Marshall receives grant for breast cancer research

Marshall University is getting a $266,000 federal grant to study possible links between diet and breast cancer. 2007

Congressman Nick Rahall says researchers want to identify
dietary changes that could reduce the risk of breast cancer. In
particular, they will look at omega-3 fatty acids that are found in
fish in nuts.

Studies have shown patients with heart disease benefit from
eating omega-3 fatty acids.

Marshall's Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine received the grant
from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National
Cancer Institute.
